Rock-Ola v2.49(build 3.2.273.1) Release Notes

General/New Features

§         The option to edit cover art for an album now supports retrieving cover images from a USB-connected drive, such as a thumb drive.

§         A new “Features” tab has been added to the System section of the system setup screen. This tab is used to display a number of new listings that control the availability of features on the system. These include the following items:

  • Enable Cuebar – allows the user to show/hide the track cue bar

  • Enable Track Previewing – allows the user to enable/disable the ability to preview tracks

    • Enable Album Editing – allows the user to enable/disable the album edit feature

    • Enable Playlists – allows the user to show/hide the list of playlists on the main screen.
    • Allow Creation of New Playlists – if the “Enable Playlists” setting is turned on, this option allows the user to enable/disable the ability to create new playlists.

  • Perform Maintenance – allows the user to optionally restrict the system maintenance functions to occur only during a specified period of time during the day. Alternately, it can be left to the default setting of “whenever the system is idle”.

  • Reset to Default Settings –this button allows the user to reset the above options to the previous default settings. This restores the features settings to the behavior prior to the release of Version 2.4.9.

The system settings area of the system is now also protected by the “Access Control” PIN that you set on the Access tab. This allows users to protect key configuration settings from changes by unauthorized users.

Media Grouping Feature

§         A new feature has been added that allows users to define “groups” of music that can be give a name and then the library browsing functions can be filtered to show the contents of only one or more groups at a time.

§         Content filtering can also be used to filter out adult content. This is done by filtering all albums with the “Explicit Lyrics” flag. This data is often filled in automatically from the data service, but it can also be edited by the user in the Edit Album feature, as desired.

Minor Enhancements

§     It is no longer possible to have more than one Network Place with the same name.

§         Boot process has been improved, including additional login that will assist in diagnosis of potential failures of both hardware and software. This improvement was implemented to assist with long-term support issues.

§         Improved handling of several cases where it may have been possible to start playback of tow tr4acks at once (when only one should have been playing).

§         Improved handling of file duration of imported music files.
